WV Senate candidate fights claims of citizenship | WDVM25 & DCW50

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) — A candidate for the West Virginia Senate is below hearth, accused of not assembly the state’s citizenship necessities.

Andrea Kiessling of Roane County has filed to run within the eighth Senate district. But certainly one of her Republican opponents within the major, Joshua Higgenbotham, claims Kiessling has not lived in West Virginia for the required 5 years previous to submitting.

Indeed, Kiessling concedes she has labored and voted in North Carolina over the previous few years. But she maintains that she is a citizen of the state.

“Unlike my opponent, I work very hard and I do not expect my parents to support myself or my family,” Kiessling mentioned. “So, in an effort to provide for my family, I’ve taken opportunities and operated businesses that required me to split my time between West Virginia and other states.”

Kiessling says she is now in a position to earn a living from home, that means she’s going to stay and work in West Virginia year-round.
