Baltimore City ethics board discovered Nick Mosby in violation of present solicitation and acceptance

The Baltimore City Ethics board has discovered City Council President Nick Mosby “violated the Baltimore City Public Ethics Law’s prohibitions on gift solicitation and acceptance related to a fundraising campaign by The Mosby 2021 Trust to defray his and his spouse’s private legal expenses.”

The investigation dates again to August of final 12 months.

The Ethics Board discovered the personal belief collected greater than $14,000 in donations together with a $5,000 contribution. Most of the cash was used to pay for authorized bills. Mosby faces no prison fees.

The Ethics Board is urging Mosby to sever ties with the Mosby Trust.

According to the doc, Mosby’s lawyer argued that he couldn’t have violated that rule as a result of “there is no evidence that he has directly received any of the donations made to the Mosby Trust and that he does not otherwise have control of those funds.”

The Ethics board in the identical doc famous that part 6-27 of the rules “prohibits the direct and indirect acceptance of a gift from a controlled donor.”
